# Aviation Gazetteer > A complete survey of every aviation museum, heritage centre and preserved airfield collection in the United Kingdom — 119 museums across nine regional commands — plus a chronological aircraft Compendium, UK airshows, military fly-bys, free-museum lists, and long-form guides on where to see Spitfires, Lancasters, Vulcans and Concorde. The Aviation Gazetteer (Air Publication 118) is an independent UK reference site edited by Marcus Greenwood. It lists museums with inventories, visitor ratings, maps and opening-hour notes, and answers “where can I see this aircraft in Britain?” for types from Cayley’s glider to the Eurofighter Typhoon. Figures are commonly published museum and type-history numbers; verify opening hours before travelling. ## Core pages - [Aviation Gazetteer homepage](https://airmuseums.co.uk/): 119 UK aviation museums, regional commands, situation map and airframe search - [Museums](https://airmuseums.co.uk/museums): Section I — every UK aviation museum, region by region, with photographs, prices and links to each museum page - [Aircraft](https://airmuseums.co.uk/aircraft): Section II — every aircraft type on display in a UK museum by era, The Hangar's 3D plates and the where-to-see guides - [Articles](https://airmuseums.co.uk/articles): Section III — supplements, special articles, field guides, airshows and fly-bys - [The Compendium](https://airmuseums.co.uk/compendium): Chronological ledger of every aircraft type on charge across the gazetteer’s museums, with stats, silhouettes and museum links - [North America (overseas supplement)](https://airmuseums.co.uk/north-america): Eight hero museums outside the UK, two in Canada (Canadian Warplane Heritage, Hamilton;
