Lockheed Hudson

A procedural model built in Blender from the type’s published dimensions, painted as A16-199, the RAF Museum’s Lockheed Hudson Mk IIIA, built at Burbank, California as 41-36975 and allotted to the RAF as FH174 under Lend-Lease but delivered to Australia in 1942, flown by Nos. 13 and 2 Squadrons RAAF in northern Australia, a civil survey aircraft as VH-SMM and VH-AGJ from 1947, brought to Britain for the Strathallan Collection in 1973 as G-BEOX and displayed at Hendon since 1981: a twin-engined maritime reconnaissance bomber of 65 ft 6 in span developed from the Lockheed 14 Super Electra airliner, with two Wright Cyclone radials, a glazed nose for the navigator and bomb-aimer, a bomb bay under the cabin floor, Fowler flaps and twin fins and rudders, shown standing tail-down as it is displayed there, still in its survey configuration with no dorsal turret: RAAF Foliage Green and Earth Brown above a scalloped line, Sky Blue beneath, blue and white roundels, light grey ‘SF-R’ codes and a black ‘A16-199’ on the rear fuselage, white and blue fin flashes, a yellow kangaroo either side of the nose, the bomb doors and port cabin door open and natural-metal three-blade propellers with yellow tips.
