Selection and compilation
The survey began with 677 possible UK locations. The compiler retained 118 aviation museums, heritage centres and preserved airfield collections that fit the publication’s editorial scope. Records were normalised into nine regional commands and cross-indexed against aircraft types and serials where source data was available.
Names, coordinates, public ratings, report counts and practical details were checked against a Google Places survey in July 2026, museum websites and public listings. The 1,180 reports are a survey sample used for editorial context; the Gazetteer does not collect visitor reviews itself.
Limits of the survey
Opening hours, prices, displays and contact details can change after the snapshot date. Aircraft may be moved into storage, workshops or another collection. Unverified Wikidata identifiers, licences and visit dates are omitted rather than guessed.
Verify before travel. Use each museum’s official website or contact details for the current day’s opening, tickets and access.
Send evidence-backed corrections to mg@ub.io. Accepted factual amendments are recorded on the corrections page.
