A procedural model built in Blender from the type’s published dimensions, painted as ZM166, a Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning of No. 617 Squadron, Royal Air Force, flying from RAF Marham and the Royal Navy’s aircraft carriers, as photographed at the Royal International Air Tattoo in 2025: the short take-off and vertical landing version of the F-35 that the RAF and Royal Navy fly together, 35 ft in span, with one Pratt & Whitney F135 afterburning turbofan exhausting through a three-bearing swivel nozzle, a shaft-driven lift fan behind the cockpit, caret intakes with diverterless bumps either side of a chined, faceted nose, a trapezoidal wing, twin outward-canted fins, all-moving tailplanes and a frameless one-piece canopy, shown standing level on its tricycle undercarriage in cruise configuration with every door closed and no external stores: dark grey radar-absorbent finish overall with a gold-tinted canopy, a pale low-visibility ring roundel and a pale ‘032’ on each side of the nose, the squadron’s lightning-bolt badge and ‘032’ on both fins, ‘ZM166’ on the tail booms, pale formation-light strips and serrated door seams, in service (the RAF Museum’s full-scale model at Hendon is a 1998 F-35A display mock-up of a different shape, so a real RAF airframe is shown instead; no photograph showed upper-wing roundels, so none are painted, and the main-wheel track is taken from a single head-on photograph).
