The Me 323 D-1 ‘W9+SA’ in 3D
A procedural model built in Blender from the type’s published dimensions, painted as Messerschmitt Me 323 D-1 Gigant ‘W9+SA’, a Luftwaffe six-engined heavy transport photographed on an airfield around 1942 (no Me 323 survives): a high braced wing spanning 55.2 m with six Gnome-Rhône 14N radials in separate nacelles, a deep box-section fuselage with clamshell nose doors under a flight deck set into the wing leading edge, five wheels each side in fairings along the lower fuselage, and a strut-braced tailplane, shown standing level on its wheels: dark green upper surfaces and fuselage sides over a pale lower fuselage, pale nacelles and wing struts, dark wing undersides as the photographs show, a black and white Balkenkreuz with the code W9+SA in black on both fuselage sides and a swastika on the fin (shape from a Me 323 D-1 three-view checked against photographs of this and other Me 323s; the photographs are black and white, so the colours are judged, and no upper-wing crosses are shown because no photograph shows the upper wing).
