A procedural model built in Blender from the type’s published dimensions, painted as ML824, the RAF Museum’s Short Sunderland MR.5, built by Short & Harland at Belfast in 1944, flown by No. 201 Squadron from Castle Archdale and then by No. 330 (Norwegian) Squadron, whose crews took out its mid-upper turret in 1945, later by the French Aéronavale until 1961, and on display at Hendon since 1971, with its four 1,200 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1830-90B Twin Wasp radials, painted as ‘NS-Z’ of No. 201 Squadron as it is shown today: gloss white overall, Type C1 fuselage roundels with dark green ‘NS’ and ‘Z’ either side, a small black ‘ML824’ on the rear hull, a red, white and blue fin flash, the FN11 nose turret and four-gun FN4A tail turret, the wing floats, black three-blade propellers with yellow tips, and the bomb racks run out under the wing roots with four depth charges each side.
