History

The story of 44-29366

44-29366 was completed at North American's Fairfax plant in Kansas City on 16 September 1944 and delivered two days later. It spent its USAF career on training duties at bases including Moody, Barksdale, Reese and Goodfellow, logging more than 10,000 hours.

In 1954 it was modified at Birmingham, Alabama, and redesignated TB-25N in July that year. It went into storage at Davis-Monthan in May 1958 and left the inventory in December 1959.

Sonora Flying Service bought it in January 1960 for $2,000. It became a fire-bomber, flying as tanker 48 until about 1966. After two private owners, Tallmantz used it in the 1969 film Catch-22 with tail code 6M.

David Tallichet's company at Chino owned it from 1972. In 1978 it was flown to Britain via Greenland and Iceland for the film Hanover Street, arriving at Luton on 15 May. It wore the false serial 151645 and the name Marvellous Miriam.

Doug Arnold's Warbirds of Great Britain then kept it at Blackbushe, where it was grounded around 1980. In 1982 it passed to the RAF Museum, painted as 34037, and went by road to Hendon on 25 October. It transferred to East Kirkby in November 2022.
