Why it matters

The short story

Not a fair fight, and not designed to be one: twin fins, twin engines, and an airframe that has never lost an air-to-air engagement in anger. The Eagle was the late Cold War’s answer to owning the sky — power, radar and kinematics first, subtlety optional. Duxford’s F-15A sits in the American Air Museum, still looking as if the ceiling is a temporary inconvenience.
