Humber Monoplane

A procedural model built in Blender from the type’s published dimensions, painted as BAPC.9, the Humber Monoplane replica at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry, on loan from The Shuttleworth Collection: a Blériot XI replica made for the 1959 Royal Tournament and later fitted with a Humber three-cylinder engine to stand for the Blériot-pattern monoplanes Humber built at Coventry in 1909–10, a single-seat wire-braced monoplane with a 30 hp Humber air-cooled engine driving a two-bladed tractor propeller, a cambered wing warped for roll control, a fuselage covered round the cockpit and an open wooden girder behind, a tailplane with tip elevators, a large rounded rudder and a sprung chassis of two spoked wheels with a small tail wheel, shown standing tail-down on its wheels: cream doped linen, the gold Humber winged-wheel trade mark on both sides of the fuselage, dark-stained forward frame and chassis, mid-brown varnished rear girder, black steel cabane, pylon and chassis tubes, a honey-brown propeller and an aluminium crankcase with black finned cylinders, with no serial or registration on the airframe (the geometry follows a published Blériot XI three-view at the scale of Shuttleworth’s G-AANG, since no dimensions are published for the replica; the rudder is enlarged from photographs of BAPC.9).
