A procedural model built in Blender from the type’s published dimensions, painted as A6526, a Royal Aircraft Factory F.E.2b of the Royal Flying Corps: the two-seat pusher biplane of 1915–18, with the observer and his elevated Lewis gun in the nose of a short nacelle, the pilot behind him, a 160 hp Beardmore six-cylinder engine and four-bladed propeller behind the crew, an open tail-boom framework, the simple V-strut undercarriage and a 112 lb bomb under the nacelle; shown as the RAF Museum’s reproduction at Hendon, built round an original Garrett-made nacelle frame and completed by Retrotec in 2009, in the dark khaki night-bomber finish of the real A6526 of 148, 58 and 102 Squadrons: dark khaki dope overall, a black nacelle and engine bay, varnished spruce struts and booms, roundels on the lower wings, and the serial ‘A6526’ in off-white on an unstriped rudder; the roundels on top of the upper wing, which no photograph shows, follow RFC practice.
