London flypasts are a different category from valley low-flying: they are scheduled, published and tied to the ceremonial calendar. Trooping the Colour (the King's official birthday parade, usually in June) brings a mixed RAF formation over Buckingham Palace and The Mall — often led by the Red Arrows with Typhoons, transport aircraft and historic types in trail.

State events, coronations, jubilees and Remembrance Sunday can trigger additional flypasts. Routes are announced by the Ministry of Defence in advance. St James's Park, The Mall and the Victoria Embankment give the classic head-on view; Hyde Park corners work for wider formations.

Best odds

Check the official Trooping the Colour date each spring (typically a Saturday in June). Arrive early — a million other people will have the same idea. For paid aerobatic displays, see the UK airshows calendar.

Field craft

Street closures apply. This is crowd viewing, not a hillside — bring water, expect security checks, and do not fly drones anywhere near central London.
