Soviet rotary wing

A procedural model built in Blender from the type’s published dimensions, painted as 96+26, a Mil Mi-24D ‘Hind-D’ assault and anti-armour helicopter, powered by two Isotov TV3-117 turboshafts driving a five-blade main rotor and a three-blade tail rotor on the port side, built in 1981 for the East German Volksarmee as ‘421’, taken on by the Luftwaffe at reunification in 1990 and kept by The Helicopter Museum at Weston-super-Mare; painted as it is shown there: the NVA camouflage of olive-green patches and darker green streaks on a pale grey-green base, pale blue-grey undersides and stores, a pale grey lower nose, black ‘96’ and ‘26’ either side of a white-edged Bundeswehr cross on each side of the tail boom, the NVA unit diamond on each side of the rear fuselage and a yellow ‘GEFAHR’ band on the port side of the boom, with green blanks over the engine intakes, red caps on the wingtip launch rails and four UB-32 rocket pods under the stub wings; the starboard boom was not clearly photographed, so the warning band is shown on the port side only, and the stub-wing incidence is estimated from photographs.
