About this museum
Hangar 42 at Blackpool Airport is a WWII time capsule assembled with film-set production values: Spitfires, a Hurricane and a Bf 109E (faithful replicas, plus genuine relics and vehicles) staged in a wartime hangar on a site where Wellingtons were once assembled by the thousand. The volunteers dress the part and know their stuff cold; the cockpit-photo and VR add-ons are cheerfully commercial and well reviewed.
The Ops Room recreation and the £5 sit-in-a-Spitfire photography session — the cheapest Spitfire seat time in the country.
- Sit-in Spitfire replicas
- Bf 109E & Hurricane replicas
- The recreated 1940 Ops Room
Opening days change monthly: check before travelling, seriously (it's in their own description). No dogs, no big bags, no video.
“A fantastic place to visit and learn about the spitfire and it's …”— Steve, visitor report
