Aviation museums in Hampshire

Hampshire holds two of British aviation’s founding sites. At Farnborough on 16 October 1908, Samuel Cody made the first powered flight in the UK. The Royal Aircraft Establishment tested aircraft there until 2003. At Woolston in Southampton, Supermarine built the racers that won the Schneider Trophy outright in 1931, then the Spitfire.
