Aviation museums in Norfolk

Norfolk’s aviation story is largely American and largely 1943–45. The USAAF’s 2nd Air Division flew B-24 Liberators from airfields across the county. The 100th Bomb Group flew B-17s from Thorpe Abbotts, where the restored control tower has been a museum since 1977. The RAF’s story is Coltishall: a Hurricane station in 1940, home only to Jaguars from 1974, closed in November 2006.
