Percival in brief
In 1936 the company was restructured as Percival Aircraft Ltd and moved to Luton Airport. During the war it built the Proctor, a development of the Vega Gull. After the war came the Prentice and Provost trainers and the Pembroke light transport.
Percival joined the Hunting Group in 1944, and Edgar Percival sold his remaining interest. The firm became Hunting Percival in 1954 and Hunting Aircraft in 1957. Its Jet Provost became the RAF’s basic jet trainer. BAC took over in 1960, and a Hunting design became the starting point for the One-Eleven.
