About this museum

The Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum at Flixton is the great free eccentric of British aviation: sixty-odd airframes accumulated with magpie logic, from mainstream jets to genuinely obscure one-offs, spread across huts, hangars and a windblown yard near Bungay. It has the highest ratio of 'what on earth is THAT' per acre in the country, and admission is a donation box.

Listed inventory: 26 airframes.

60+ on charge~25 Fighters & jets, some very odd~12 Trainers~8 Transports~6 Helicopters~5 Bombers & maritime
Star of the show

Depends who you ask — the joy is the oddities. Come for the Bloodhound missiles and decoy rarities; stay for volunteer flight-simulator lessons materialising unprompted for twelve-year-olds.

Notable airframes
  • Gloster Javelin FAW.9
  • de Havilland Sea Vixen
  • Westland Whirlwind HAR.10
  • A field of genuine Cold War oddities
Visitor intel

Free (donate properly). Allow 3–4 hours, more if you talk to anyone. Some outdoor exhibits are weathering — adopt-an-aircraft donations gratefully taken.

“The museum is a fantastic place for aviation enthusiasts and professionals alike.”— Jim, visitor report
