Not a museum and all the better for it: the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar is a working Spitfire restoration shop holding one of the largest concentrations of airworthy Spitfires anywhere, on the most famous fighter station of them all. Tours walk you between live rebuilds — rivets out, history exposed — and for the price of a decent used car you can be flown in a two-seat Spitfire over the Weald.

Pre-booked tours only (~£49 for the technical evening tour, widely endorsed). This is a live workshop: expect engineers, noise and the best kind of untidiness.
